Catch up!!

I guess I can use the fact that we have been internetless again for the past 3 weeks as an excuse for not blogging, but I won't. The company hubby works for entered two teams in the wheelchair race a while ago. It was a fundraiser and it was a lot of fun, but very hard on the hands! Here you can see my hubby trying very hard to finish his leg of the race.
Their team also ended up in the final, but the final was won by the disabled team in their wheelchairs. It was quite an eye opener and gave me a lot more respect for the people in wheelchairs. It is not easy! Here is a photo of the two teams:
I attended a Tim Holtz class with a friend about 2 weeks ago. We each got a chipboard album, grungeboard and some other embellishments. Part of our kit was also some pages torn out of Hamlet. It made for very interesting pages! We first had to stick the paper onto the chipboard pages, then inked it with distress ink. I was amazed at how much like leather the grungeboard looked by the time we were finished painting, sanding and inking them! It was a very enjoyable class. Here is the results:
I decided to use some wedding photos to complete the album - printed in sepia of course! I got home, dragged Colin to the mall to have photos printed and then finished the whole album that night. I was very inspired and excited!

I went and scrapped this morning and did this layout. Actually I am lying, the teacher put all the photos on the pages and I just stuck them down! I must still do the journalling, but have a look:
Andrew had his first archery lesson last Saturday, but all the photos are on the hubbies camera, will have to get them from him and then I can show you.
It has been a very busy and difficult couple of weeks. Michael managed to see Ethan once, but then the madam decided that he can't see Ethan again. He also received a subpoena from the maintenance court last week. I made peace with not being allowed to see Ethan and will now just have an attitude of "wait and see".

Holidays etc.

I returned from Kidds Beach on 1 April, and we left to go to Goudini on the 5th. It was an absolute mad rush to get everything done in time, with the result that blogging was the last thing on my mind! I squeesed in a pedicure, had my nails done and then also had to go have my hair tinted, cut, etc. Inbetween all that I bought a canvas for our bedroom and visited Stef a few times to get all the goodies together as I wanted to take the canvas with me to do while we were away. I actually enjoy having a project to do! Here I am busy painting my canvas outside the tent.
It was actually our 24th wedding anniversary while we were away, and Colin and I celebrated by having breakfast at the restaurant at Goudini (without the kids). We went through to Worcester later in the morning to buy some stuff that we forgot at home, and also to get a bottle of bubbly for supper, as well as pudding. We ended of having a feast for supper. Robyn took some photos of us, but they didn't come out very well. Not because she took bad photos, just because I look a bit yukky on the photos. No make-up, etc. Another think we did when I got home on the first was to buy a "friend" for Chilly. I decided that the poor thing was never going to get enough attention from his "mother" and therefor a friend was a good idea. Colin agreed and we bought this little cutey! It is supposed to be a girl, so here's hoping! Her name is Ginger and she is quite cute. Chilly is already a lot happier. We specially bought a baby as I thought that an adult bird might bully Chilly. They make a very cute "couple" and caused quite a few laughs while we were away.
Andrew asked us to take a drive to go and look at the new 5 star accommodation at Goudini. It is called Slanghoek Villas and they are absolutely stunning! This is the view from no. 1.
Andrew entered in the putt-putt competition and this was his team - The Fabulous Four! They didn't win anything, but good fun was had by all. Andrew made friends with the 2 little boys - a real "rainbow" friendship!
Our home away from home! Robyn's tent is on the right and that obviously makes the tent on the left Andrews. We were a bit concerned about how he would cope with sleeping alone in a tent, but he was so exhausted at night that he passed out! There was no issue with the sleeping arrangements after the first night. I really enjoy camping - it is such a lovely way of relaxing. It also amazed us how nice it was to only camp with the 2 kids. The place stayed much tidier and we made so much less food!
We came back from Goudini on Thursday and went and visited Ethan in the evening. He is now 3 weeks old and has really grown. He weighed 2,9kg at birth and now weighs 4,2kg. Not bad! He was not a happy boy when we saw him, he just wanted to cry, so I handed him over to his mommy!
Grandpa holding Ethan.
Ta-da!!! The completed canvas. I am very happy with the way it came out. I copied a layout out of the Creative Memories magazine of August 2008.
The photo was taken last year on our anniversary. We balanced the camera on Jamie's cage and set the timer. Colin took the photo from an angle, as there was quite a glare on the photo if he took it from the front. What do you think? It is 50cm by 50cm and looks very nice against our freshly painted brown bedroom wall. Will take a photo of the completed bedroom makeover and show you soon!
So far we have had a very quiet easter weekend. We went to church on Friday morning and again this morning and the rest of the weekend we basically chilled. It is lovely having a quiet weekend as we are going on the Church Family camp next weekend. After that we will be at home until December - everything in one month! We had the in-laws around for tea this afternoon and we are planning on taking the kids to a movie tomorrow.

My week at a glance

A whole week since I blogged - goodness me! Anyway, I think everybody knows by now that I am not very fond of spending time on the computer. I spent quite a bit of time sorting out my photos today - must be a record!
Chillie getting a bit of love. He is doing well, I just feel sorry for him as his "mother" doesn't give him as much attention as what he should be getting. And my green bird is not happy when I spend time with him.
My sisters daughter is turning 18 on the 22nd of March and wants a kiddies party and the theme has to be pandas. My sister and I sat and made these pandas last week. We must still paint the eyes and noses. They got a bit flatter and fatter after we left them to dry, but I think they will look really good on the cupcakes. The bigger one is supposed to go on top of the cake, but unfortunately it cracked when I put clingwrap over the plates. The big one wasn't dry yet! I am sure we can make another plan!
I saw this cute bird last Friday, and just couldn't resist it! It goes well with the bedding we are using at the moment, but I don't think it will go too well with the new bedding we bought! Anyway, I will make it work. The boys are painting our bedroom this weekend and I am very excited! Will (try) post a before and after photo. My sisters boyfriend and Colin are also going to fix up the kitchen a bit on Sunday. Hopefully they will find the ant nest and destroy the whole thing!
I found this at Cum books last week - I want to put it in my bedroom once the painting is done - will go very nicely with the new colour scheme.
It was quite a busy week for some reason. Don't ask me why as I really don't know, I seem to waste a lot of time. Did the usual scrapping on Tuesday, had breakfast with the mama on Wednesday and have been rather house bound this past two days. My car had to go in for some repairs and couldn't come home last night. Hopefully tonight. It has actually been quite a nice and relaxing day today. As I said I sorted some photos, I also read and went through my new CK magazines for inspiration.
The grandchild still hasn't been born and with the due date that was yesterday, it can happen anytime. I am getting very excited to see what the baby looks like and what sex it is. I am still hoping that it is a girl, even though the 1st scan did show a boy. Time will tell.
We are having a fundraiser at our church tomorrow. A potjie afternoon. I initially thought that it was a potjie kos competition, but apparantly there will be no prizes. Colin is making a potjie and I am making a pudding. I think it is going to be a very pleasant afternoon socialising with the members of the church and our guests. Will take some photos and let you see!
Have a great weekend!
