So many birthdays!

It was my mothers 70th birthday on 27 November, but they were away at the time. We went out to dinner on Friday night to celebrate a belated birthday. We went to the Cattle Baron and the food was excellent as always. My parents, my sister and her boyfriend and us all went.

Richard also celebrated his 19th birthday while we were in Langebaan, so we had a tea and cake afternoon for him yesterday. I think that he thoroughly enjoyed it!

Between the birthdays, cars and cricket it was rather a busy weekend, with very little time to just relax. The older kids are going of to the beach this afternoon for a church get-together and it will just be Colin, Andrew and I at home. Maybe we can do something interesting.

I bought a stick in winter with two tags on that said that it was a hibiscus and could either be lilac or white. Anyway, it is flowering now as you can see and I don't think it is a hibiscus. What do you think? It is very pretty though.

Soaking up the sun

As you all know by now, my crazy bird loves the sun. I took her outside with me early this morning when I hung out the washing and she enjoyed climbing around while I was busy. I decided a little while ago to go and "survey the estate" and took her outside again. It is lovely and sunny outside, but also a bit nippy in the shade. She loved being outside and was not impressed at all when I came back inside again. While I am typing this she is climbing around on the burglar bars enjoying some more sun! Crazy bird!

I must agree with her that it is really lovely spending time out in the sun. I was amazed to see how much the plants have grown and how clean and vibrant everything looks. We have really been very blessed with all the rain, even though it is very cold it is still the best thing to make plants grow beautifully! Maybe I should go for a nice walk later ........

My weekend was very busy and we didn't leave home at all except to go to church yesterday morning. It was actually very nice just being at home for a change without feeling the need to rush around in the shopping centres or just visiting people. My mom came for a visit on Saturday afternoon and we had a lovely time just chatting and knitting. Friends came around yesterday afternoon for a braai and we had a wonderful time. And then we had some more friends pop in last night for a cup of coffee. This is what I enjoy - relaxing time with friends and family!

Family

Colin and I decided to take the parents out for tea at Stodels yesterday, and Andrew promptly decided that I needed him to do Sandart for my scrapbook! This is the result and it also created a photo opportunity!

Robyn took this photo of us. Isn't he just tooo sexy with that beard! We ended up having a lovely "tea" and enjoyed walking around in the sun and looking at the plants. I bought a hibiscus tree with two tags on it. The one tag says that it is a white flower and the other that it has a lavender flower. Sort of reminds me of John Travolta in "Look who's talking" with his unmarked cans - "Is it peaches or maybe meatballs?" if you get my drift! It will be interesting to see when it eventually gets flowers.

We also had friends around on Saturday. My friend Carol and I did some scrapping and then we had a braai in the evening. My sister also came and brought the most delicious cheese sauce to have over our steak! Yum, could do with some right now!
